Channel Islands National Park which is located off the southern coast of California (70 miles north of Los Angeles) is a fabulous once in a lifetime opportunity for those special few who visit this hidden gem. The Channel Islands Park encompasses five of the eight California Channel Islands (Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara). These islands and their waters are home to over 2,000 plants and animals, of which 145 are found nowhere else in the world. Like the Galapagos Islands in South America, the isolation of these islands has allowed evolution to proceed uninterrupted by mankind.
A short exciting ocean voyage is required to access the park, but once there you will be surrounded by the quiet solitude of the five islands each with their own unique history and landscape.
Whether you have one hour or five days to explore the Channel Islands, there is plenty of activities available from kayaking to hiking, fishing, tide-pooling, bird watching and whale watching.
Day trips are available from Santa Barbara to the Channel Islands, call Bon Voyage to arrange this.
