Los Alamos is best known for the top-secret atomic research work that took place here in the ‘40s, the so-called “Manhattan Project” directed by physicist Robert Oppenheimer.

Surrounded by the Santa Fe National Forest and the Bandelier National Monument it an appealing town with much to offer to the passing visitor.
