“ A moonscape on earth” describes the immense beauty of the Badlands, just over an hour’s drive from Rapid City. Here, amongst jagged cliffs, deep canyons and flat-topped buttes, lies on e of the most stunning geologic displays visible on earth.  Rich in fossils, this parched, rugged terrain reveals mysteries of a distant past.  Huge rhinoceros-like animals and vicious saber-toothed cats once roamed this land. Today prairie dogs, rattlesnakes, deer, bison and coyotes inhabit the vast 380 square mile park.
