Here you can stroll along the historic main street packed to the brim with shops offering Mount Rushmore themed souveniers, and lively eateries. You’d think it would be tacky, wouldn’t you? But actually it’s not, this is a great little place to stay to explore Custer State Park, Crazy Horse and the Black Hills.
As you’d expect there are plenty of history museums where you can learn about Mount Rushmore and the Presidents, the sculptor of Crazy Horse, Keystone itself and of course, Carrie Ingalls.
You’ve got to take a ride on the tramway for fabulous views of Mount Rushmore and the surrounding area or visit a Keystone gold mine where you can actually pan for gold.
