Venice is just plain cool. A short bike ride from Santa Monica this "Venice of America" has attracted visitors for years to its canals and crooked streets.  Ocean front is packed with vendors, muscle men and unabashed performers bumping elbows for attention.  It's a little bit crazy and a whole lot of fun.
