We rarely get excited about zoos and animal encounters, but ZooTampa Lowry Park is quite simply one of the best attractions we’ve ever visited. The park is laid out incredibly well, the exhibits feel up close and personal and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. We aren’t the only ones who think so – Parents Magazine has consistently voted ZooTampa Lowry Park as the #1 zoo in the USA.
With more than 1,000 animals, housed in 56 acres of lush natural habitats, the diverse collection is suited to the Tampa climate. Engaging interactive exhibits mean close, but safe contact with many species in the Zoo. One of the most entertaining habitat areas has to be Primate World. Bornean orang-utans, chimpanzees, brilliant-coloured mandrills and tiny marmosets and tamarins are among those you can spot. The majority of these primates are endangered, so it provides a unique experience not only in learning about them, but what can be done to protect them.
