Canyonlands National Park consists of canyons and plateaus carved by two rivers - the Colorado and the Green. The park is composed of five unique regions. They are relatively close together but because of the rough nature of the landscape, direct travel between them is virtually impossible. People who want to explore the park should focus on one region at a time. They are “Island in the Sky District”, “The Needles District”, “The Maze District”, “Horseshoe Canyon” and “The Rivers”.
