Day 1 Arrival in Toronto

The Fairmont Royal York, Toronto, Exterior

Arrive at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, and transfer independently to your downtown hotel.  Pick up your Roadbook at the front desk as you check-in. Remainder of the day is at leisure for shopping at the Eaton Centre or perhaps sampling the fine cuisine and nightlife of Toronto. Overnight in Toronto.

Day 2 Toronto

Today is your city tour of the metropolis of Toronto.  From the CN Tower to the financial district, your tour will illuminate the highlights of this truly world-class city.  Afterwards, you can further explore the many facets of this dynamic destination.  Toronto boasts a fascinating mix of multi-cultural neighbourhoods.  From Chinatown to Little Italy, Greektown on the Danforth to Little Portugal, you'll discover a virtual world within one city.  Some other highlights: the spectacular Rogers Centre (formerly the SkyDome), Ontario Place, the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Ontario Science Centre or the Royal Ontario Museum

Standing 553 metres tall, this symbol of Toronto and Canada not only offers sweeping panoramic views, but also a world of entertainment.  Venture back in time and travel from the mid-70's to the present where you will discover the architectural secrets behind the tower.  Then ride the glass-fronted elevators to the top of the world's tallest structure (main deck). Dare to walk the glass floor, sample the exquisite cuisine at the revolving restaurant or relax in the Horizon's Cafe.  The views of Toronto, Lake Ontario and the distant US are unforgettable.  Back on earth, browse through the Market Place and shop for authentic Canadiana and First Nations merchandise, sports memorabilia or CN Tower souvenirs.

Embark on a modern jet helicopter and experience the incredible sensation of a vertical flight of 9 minutes.  Rise above the spectacular core of downtown Toronto and fly eye-to-eye with the pod of the CN Tower.  Witness the beauty of Lake Ontario or the Toronto Innter Harbour and see  Toronto's finest attractions, landmarks and diversity from above.  Cameras are highly recommended.  Ferry fee to be paid locally.

Day 3 Toronto to Montreal

Departing Toronto, the highway takes you east through the townships along the eastern shores of Lake Ontario, many being farming and cattle communities that feed into the provinces large agricultural market.  You arrive in Montreal, a centre of arts and culture amidst the wide swirling water of the St. Lawrence River.

Day 4 Montreal

Get ready to explore this fascinating city of duelling cultures.  Savour the city's French-Canadian flare as you independently discover the charms of the small shoppes and cafes that line the marrow cobblestone streets of Montreal.

Day 5 Montreal to La Malbaie

Following the St. Lawrence River, today you drive north in sight of the constant shipping that travels the river every day between the ports of the Great Lakes Lowlands and the Atlantic.  As you draw nearer to La Malbie, the rock outcroppings become more predominent as the pine trees swoop down to meet the widening banks of the river.  Set against the deep greens of the forest, the Manoir Richelieu's steep roofs of weathered copper and warm sandstone-hued walls recall the fable retreat and resorts of yesteryear.

Day 6 La Malbaie

The rugged landscape around the resort offers plenty of opportunity for hiking or bird watching.  Several world -class golf courses are within a short drive of the property, engaging all levels of player.  Whale watching tours are also available to arrange independently to view the massive creatures fedd and travel along their migratory route.

Aboard cruise ship, the Dufour family invities you to join them for a whalewatching cruise on the St Lawrence River at the mouth of the Saguenay River.

Day 7 La Malbaie to Quebec City

Returning east along the St Lawrence River, you will come to the historic Quebec City.  Founded in 1608, Quebec City is the only walled city in North America and a designated United Nations World Heritage Site.

Today is yours to explore the sights and sounds of this marvellous example of living history.  Bask in the "joie de vivre" atmosphere as you independently visit the Plains of Abraham, the Fortifications, the National Assembly, Place Royale, the Basilica and many more points of attraction.

  • Optional Activity Package - 3-hour guided walking tour of Quebec City

Embark on a historical walking tour of Old Quebec and learn about it's colourful past beginning in 1608 and continuing into the present day.  Tours are designed to give visitors a general sense of the history of the fortress and hub that is Quebec City, as well as an understanding of the lives of the people that have inhabited it throughout the centuries.  You'll also have the advantage of being in a small group led by guides who are always open to questions, favouring a more relaxed and personal sightseeing excursion.
