Marquette is a major port on Lake Superior, primarily for shipping iron ore, and is the largest city of the Upper Peninsula.
Their most prized possession is the wilderness: the night skies illuminated by blazing green northern lights, full moons reflecting diamonds in the snow, lingering sunsets, waterfalls rushing to open waters, and waves cresting against the shoreline of Lake Superior.
New shops displaying artwork, restaurants serving whitefish, symphonies playing in restored historic structures, and theatres highlighting local and national performers are a sampling of the cultural amenities added to this beautiful, historic place.
