Hula was born on Hawaii and the biggest festival takes place each spring on the Big Island. 

This colourful festival takes place in April 2009 in Hilo. More than just a dance event, hula encompasses historic stories, lanuguage and the plants from which instruments and the beautiful decorative costumes are made.

The festival is considered the world's premier forum for people of all ages to display their skills and knowledge of the art of ancient and modern hula.
