Day 1 : Arrive Seattle
Seattle is a cosmopolitan, walkable and colourful city. Spend your first evening here enjoying the waterfront views from one of the many fabulous fish restaurants along the harbour.
Day 2 : Seattle
Pop on your walking shoes today and head off to explore Pike Place Market, a local shopping Mecca, Pioneer Square, Seattle's original downtown and a trip up the Space Needle for spectacular views of the city below. Be sure to stop at Starbucks first coffee shop or the Seattle Centre or the Seattle Art Museum with one of the nation's premier collections of Northwest Coast Indian art and artefacts.
Day 3 : Seattle to Portland
Distance: 173 miles
Travel south this morning possibly capturing your first glimpse of Mount Rainier, a towering ice clad volcano. Then head for world famous Mount St. Helens as you journey to Volcano Viewpoint. Here you'll have an opportunity to learn about the dramatic eruption in 1980. On to Portland, known as the 'City of the Roses'. Visit Washington Park, home of the International Rose Test Gardens.
Day 4 : Portland
Enjoy a city sightseeing tour by foot or an excursion to the Columbia River Gorge. (Bon Voyage can pre-book these). Be sure to visit the classical Chinese Gardens, Pioneer Square or sip a cup of coffee on the waterfront. In the evening enjoy a delicious meal in one of the many micro-breweries.
Day 5 : Portland to Gleneden Beach
Distance: 95 miles
Cruise the rugged Pacific coastline en route to Newport, one of Oregon's most popular seaside resorts. Along the way visit the Evergreen Aviation Museum, home to the famous Spruce Goose or wine tasting in Mc Minnville. Arrive at the distinguished Salishan Lodge, your base to explore this picturesque part of Oregon. Spend time here beach walking or take an interesting harbour cruise .
Day 6 : Gleneden Beach to Gold Beach
Distance: 194 miles
Head south along the stunning Oregon coast to pretty Bandon-by-the-Sea with its unique offshore rock formations, stop for lunch here before heading off to your next stay at Gold Beach. En route you can visit Heceta Head Lighthouse and stroll around quaint Florence Old Town.
Day 7 : Gold Beach to Redwood National Park to Eureka
Distance: 137 miles
One of Oregon's great natural treasures is the scenic Rogue River. Experience a thrilling ride through this wild and remote region by glass enclosed Jet boat, have your cameras ready for glimpses of the American Bald Eagle. Travel south along the Pacific Coastline and stop in Redwood National Park, home to the world's tallest trees. Then enter Eureka, California's lumber centre, where you will see the grand Carson Mansion, the most photographed example of Victorian architecture in the world and once the home of a West Coast lumber baron.
Day 8 : Eureka to Napa
Distance: 259 miles
This morning travel along the spectacular Avenue of the Giants, a quiet 2 lane road that winds through some of the world's most spectacular scenery with ancient redwood trees. You will have the chance to see a 1,800 year old redwood here before arriving in California's wine valley...
Day 9 : Napa to Sonoma to San Francisco
Distance: 55 miles
Travel this morning to Sonoma and enjoy a guided visit to the town square's early 19th century Solano Mission and General Vallejo's home. Visit Viansa, one of Sonoma's most famous wineries. Enjoy a tour of the Italian heritage winery, perhaps you might like to enjoy an unforgettable hilltop luncheon featuring a gourmet picnic feast and wine tasting under olive trees and grape trellises. Leave the lush gentle slopes of California's wine country and continue to San Francisco via the magnificent Golden Gate Bridge.
Day 10 : San Francisco
Your adventure ends in the Beautiful City on The Bay. However you may want to extend your trip and spend a few nights exploring San Francisco or perhaps continue along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Barbara?
