Few stretches of coastal road anywhere in the world can compare to the Pacific Coast Highway. Forested mountains slope off into azure blue water and jagged rocks jut out of the crashing surf. Take your time along the way with stops in Monterey, Big Sur and Hearst Castle. Your base for the next two nights is your choice: Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo, Shell Beach, San Simeon or Cambria. We'll help you decide which location is best foryour family.

Your journey continues along the Pacific Coast Highway to Ventura Beach. Take the opportunity to stop en route at the pretty Danish town of Solvang or enjoy a spot of lunch and shopping in Santa Barbara.
Your two night stay in the beach town of Ventura will allow everyone some time to chill-out. This is a great spot to enjoy a whale watching cruise or stretch the legs with a bike ride to the pretty mountain village of Ojai.
Days 11-13 : Los Angeles & the Beaches
After your California coast adventure it's time for a three night stay in the Los Angeles region. For families wanting to end on the beach, we recommend Surf City, USA - Huntington Beach or the lively seaside resort of Santa Monica.
Los Angeles is also home to many popular theme parks. Start with Universal Studios Hollywood and Wizarding World of Harry Potter, or check out Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Soak City or Legoland California.
Day 14 : Los Angeles
Make the most of your last morning in the Golden State before your early evening flight home.
Perhaps you may want to extend your stay and spend a few extra days in sunny San Diego or maybe a visit to Palm Springs.
