Holidays to North and South Carolina
The states of North and South Carolina are located on America's Atlantic coast, to the north of Georgia and south of Virginia. From an international tourism perspective they are relatively low-profile, but don’t let that understated approach fool you - gracious people, some of the best beaches in the US, golf resorts on a truly world-class scale, a wealth of history and great scenic drives, the Carolinas are a wonderful choice for an American fly-drive holiday.
The Coastal Carolinas stretch from the Outer Banks, a string of barrier islands notable for magnicent sand dunes, wildlife refuges and maritime forests southwards to the genteel southern cities of Charleston and Savannah (the latter just into the neighbouring state of Georgia). The central region of The Carolinas includes the modern cities of Charlotte and Raleigh as well as Old Salem, the colonial heart of Winston Salem, and little changed in over 200 years.
