Welcome to Boston!
You have your first evening and following day to explore on your own before meeting up with the rest of your group.
Your Bon Voyage consultant will recommend and pre-book excursions or you can discover the city on foot yourself. Be sure to stop at Union Oyster House, the oldest restaurant in Boston, for the local speciality clam chowder - or as they say in Boston - 'clam chowda!'
Head into New Hampshire and beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. In the pretty town of Meredith, jump onboard the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad for a leisurely train journey along the shores of this crystal clear lake. Sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular fall display on the three mountain ranges that surround the lake.
You'll continue to Vermont, by motorcoach, to the picturesque town of Essex, Vermont. This quaint town is awash with New England charm and stunning scenery being situated between Lake Champlain, the Winooski River and the Green Mountains.
Start the day at Morse Maple Farm Sugarworks, a 200-year-old farm, where you'll experience the making of maple syrup and have an opportunity to taste a few varieties.
In the afternoon, venture to the "Top of Vermont" on the Stowe Gondola SkyRide. Reach the summit of Mount Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak, for an epic foliage vantage point. Spend as much time as you want at the top with the remainder of the day to continue exploring this scenic region.
It's time to head over the border to Canada - your first stop, Montreal, for two nights.
On arrival, you'll get the lay of the land with a guided city tour. Learn about the city's history while venturing past its most notable sights, including the Notre Dame Basilica, Mont-Royal, and historic Old Montreal. The remainder of the day, and the next, is yours to continue sightseeing independently.
Transfer to Montreal's train station to board a VIA Rail train to Quebec City. Journey along the Quebec City-Windsor Corridor with views of small towns and the ochre, copper, and scarlet trees surrounding them. Arrive in time for lunch in Old Quebec City before discovering points of interest throughout Quebec City on a narrated city tour.
Your second day starts with a leisurely morning in Old Quebec City. Perhaps walk along the fortified wall and make your way to La Citadelle de Québec. This destination is chock-full of Quebecois heritage and we're sure you'll love the blend of well-preserved past, dating back to the early 1600s, with modern-day.
This afternoon, venture outside the city to Montmorency Falls, an impressive waterfall that tumbles down a rocky cliff from nearly 300 feet. Taller than Niagara Falls, these thundering waters are as incredible as they are scenic. The surrounding trees, painted in their autumnal finest, make for remarkable panoramas.
Head back over the border for a day of leaf-peeping in New Hampshire's White Mountains. Lush mountain scenes and colourful fall forests pave the course for a half-day drive to Bretton Woods. Once you arrive, enjoy the ambiance of the town however you please. The Bretton Woods Skyway Gondola is a fantastic way to look over the changing leaves and the Presidential Range.
Saving the best for last, your second day includes one of the best fall foliage drives in the country along the Kancamagus Highway. The route winds through northern New Hampshire, exploring the magnificent surroundings of the White Mountain National Forest.
The vistas only get more impressive from here as you continue aboard the Mount Washington Cog Railway. Learn about the area's history and travel to the highest peak in the northeast on North America's steepest train. At the 6,288-foot summit of Mt. Washington, you'll have plenty of time for photographs of the panoramic view that span the mountains of New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and beyond.
