The future of space travel starts here! In the absolute middle of nowhere Spaceport America, the world's first purpose-built commercial spaceport, allows visitors to experience the next generation of travel. Virgin Galactic's two spaceships, WhiteKnightTwo and SpaceShipTwo are based here along with SpaceX's Falcon 9R. Numerous suborbital launches take place throughout the year in this remote, futuristic slice of New Mexico where the largest bison herd in America still roam.
The 4-hour tour begins at the Spaceport America Visitor Center in Truth or Consequences, (yes, that's actually the name of the city!) and includes transport out to the secure site with the history of the area explained along the way. Once guests arrive at Spaceport America, they take the Astronaut Walk to the Experience Gallery with numerous interactive exhibits. If you're looking for an authentic experience - you'll have to have a go on the G-Shock trainer. Interacting with Spaceport America crew members will give you an insider's glimpse into this new world of travel and the Gateway to Space hangar will provide a lasting photo memory.
