Denver Festival City
Contrary to popular belief, Denver has a mild, dry and sunny climate with more hours of sunshine than San Diego or Miami. In the winter, Denver is drier than Phoenix and gets a lot less snow than you may think making it an ideal year round destination.
Denver's event calendar is chock full of cultural activities and festivals every single month of the year. When's the best time to go? Anytime!
Here are a few events definitely worth considering. In true Mile High style, they are all open to the public and free of charge.......
The Five Points Jazz Festival takes place the third Saturday in May and celebrates the history of Denver’s Five Points neighbourhood. Once known as the Harlem of the West, Five Points was home to several jazz clubs which played host to many of jazz music’s legends such as Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and many more.
Also in May, Denver Day of Rock is a one-of-a-kind concert series held to raise funds and awareness for local children related organisations. The day features five stages of live music throughout downtown Denver over the USA’s Memorial Day weekend.
Cherry Creek Arts Festival takes place over the 4th of July weekend. Colorado's signature cultural event is a celebration of the visual, culinary and performing arts including special exhibits, demonstrations and interactive family activities....all free of charge.
The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival is a fun, family-friendly weekend
highlighting Colorado's rich Asian Pacific American heritage. A
window to the Pan Asian world, this diverse festival is the only one of its
kind in the United States. It showcases
an array of traditional and contemporary performing arts, cultural customs,
cuisine and a marketplace of unique items.
Plus, two days of action packed dragon boat racing!
In the autumn, Denver Beer Fest features more than 300 beer related events at area breweries, restaurants, tap houses and attractions. Beer tastings, firkin tappings, brewery tours and beer quizzes along with a beer street party and you’re in liquid heaven!
One of the most unusual events we’ve come across is the Denver Zombie Crawl. It’s one of the city’s most colourful get-togethers bringing tens of thousands of zombies to the 16th Street Mall for a smorgasbord of zombie activities including costume contests and adventures on the Organ Trail.
That's just a sample of activities available in the Mile High City. Call Bon Voyage to discuss what you'll be doing on your holiday to Denver.
