California’s Channel Islands are remarkably close to the mainland – the closest is just 11 miles from shore – but seem like a world away. Comprising of five islands – Santa Cruz, Anacapa, Santa Rosa, Santa Barbara and San Miguel, each offers breathtaking vistas, superb hiking trails and flora and fauna that are unique to the islands, which is why they are often referred to as “the Galapagos Islands of North America”.
