Less than an hour's drive south from Denver lies the town of Colorado Springs. Pike's Peak looms majestically over this Colorado town. A must-do is Pike's Peak Cog Railway, the USA's highest cog railway stretching for nine miles and rising to an elevation of 14,000 feet. Don't forget to explore the jagged rocks at The Garden Of The Gods, or take a stroll around pretty Manitou Springs, a colourful artists colony.
