Transfer to the motorhome depot to collect your vehicle. After viewing an instructional video to help familiarise yourself with your RV, a professional staff member will show you around the vehicle, answer any questions and provide driving guidelines.
Now it's time to hit the road and head along the Pacific Coast Highway to an area of California referred to as 'The American Riviera'. Stop to explore pretty Santa Barbara with its Moorish architecture and lively harbour. Enjoy the Danish heritage in Solvang before cruising through the quaint wine town of Los Olivos in the fertile Santa Ynez Valley. Stop in the all-American beach resort of Pismo Beach for ice cream before arriving in San Luis Obispo.

Distance: 55 miles
Stock up on fresh produce in historic downtown San Luis Obispo before heading north to iconic Hearst Castle. Built in the 1920s by newspaper billionaire William Randolph Hearst, the magnificent mansion was the most expensive private home ever built in the world and where the Hollywood elite would escape to at the weekend.
If exploring this mansion doesn't appeal, head to the beaches of San Simeon to look out for the basking seals and passing whales, or enjoy a gentle hike in the hills.

Distance: 96 miles
Rise early and plan to make the most of today as you cruise through Big Sur along the most scenic part of the Pacific Coast Highway. Gaze out over sea cliffs plunging into the ocean, view cascading waterfalls and discover stunning vistas at every bend. Stop in pretty as a picture, Carmel-by-the-Sea, for a stroll around this charming seaside town before arriving in the rugged Monterey Bay Peninsula region.

Distance: 130 miles
The 'City by the Bay' doesn't disappoint. Hire a bike and ride across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, take a foodie tour through Chinatown, or jump on the ferry to eerie Alcatraz, an ex-penitentiary set on an island in the middle of the bay.
Overnight campsite: will be situated on the outskirts of the city near public transport operating frequently into San Francisco as well as the Napa Valley.

Head east towards mighty Yosemite National Park - one of the most famous of all National Parks in North America. No visit to California is complete without experiencing its astounding scenery. Park up and explore the valleys, rock formations, lakes, waterfalls and majestic peaks of this area of outstanding beauty. In the evening enjoy camaraderie around the camp fire.

Distance: 210 miles
Take it easy today on a slower drive from east to west through the scenic Tioga Pass. Stop at lunar-like Mono Lake before heading south through Mammoth Lakes and the John Muir Wilderness area. As you journey on to your overnight stop in sleepy Lone Pine you'll view the towering Sierra Mountains to the east and Death Valley National Park to the west.
At this point, it is possible to take an overnight detour via Death Valley, however, motorhomes aren't allowed in the national park at certain times of the year due to the intense heat. Your Bon Voyage consultant will discuss your options.

Distance: 160 miles
It's time to cruise through the vast Mojave desert before hitting Barstow, a famous Route 66 town. Visit the nostalgic Route 66 Museum then experience some true Americana at Peggy Sue's Diner.
Barstow is also home to the Calico Silver Rush Ghost town. This Old West mining town dates back to 1881 and was abandoned in the later years when silver lost its value. It offers an interesting glimpse back in time with the buildings restored to their former glory.

Distance: 125 miles
Huntington Beach, also known as 'Surf City, USA', is the longest stretch of uninterrupted coastline on the entire West Coast. Explore this lively seaside community on a segway, by bike or a take stroll along its famous pier. Famous for its waves and surfing, this is also the perfect place to check out your board skills! Keep a look out for the 'Surf City Nights' street fair that takes place weekly during the summer months with live music, arts and tasty street food.
Overnight campsite: Huntington Beach area
Distance: 44 miles
Enjoy breakfast, then it's just a short 30 mile drive back to the depot to return your motorhome. If time allows, stop in Long Beach and take a tour of the Queen Mary docked here. Or enjoy some further beach time in Manhattan Beach - close to the airport.
However, your adventure doesn't have to end here! Extend your stay and fly onto Las Vegas for a few days or maybe include a city stopover in New York City or Boston....the possibilities are endless.
