Taos, in northern New Mexico, sits at the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and was first inhabited over eight hundred years ago by the ancient Tiwa Pueblo Indians. The relaxed southwestern lifestyle attracts many famous residents, notably actress Juila Roberts and politician Donald Rumsfeld. In the winter, Taos takes on its alter-ego of bustling ski resort. Taos Ski Valley Resort offers the largest and most challenging skiing in the state.
