Seventy miles north of the Little Big Horn Battlefield, Wyoming and approximately 250 miles from the eastern entrance to Yellowstone National Park lies the Victorian town of Sheridan. Here you can stroll along the pleasant historic Main Street (part of the register of National Historic Places) and browse in the Western apparel stores, the jewellery boutiques and the antique stores.
You’ll love the Sheridan Inn, a National Historic Landmark which Buffalo Bill once owned. It’s said he would sit on the grand porch of the hotel and audition the acts for his Wild West Shows. Be sure to stop by for lunch and a browse through the memorabilia.
Set in the magnificent Big Horn Mountain range, from Sheridan you can take a self guided driving tour of the surrounding wilderness and the Kerns Wild Life Habitat. If you’d prefer to stay in town, then you’re sure to enjoy the guided historic walking tours or the old town trolley tours.
