Experience New England moose habitat and learn all about the largest land mammal in North America. Full-day "moose safaris" are available in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. On these tours you'll have the opportunity to look for tracks, feeding areas, droppings (scat), beds, fur, antlers, and other signs. (In New Hampshire 3-hour evening moose tours are available from North Conway).
Your guide will try his/her best to help you spot these solitary animals as they walk and feed in the boreal forest, or swim and feed in wetland areas. Moose eat 40-60 pounds of browse a day! Sightings are not always guaranteed, but you will have spent the day in their territory learning all about moose and their local habitat. The best time to spot moose is from May to October.
