Only 35 minutes from Maui Airport and 10 minutes from Kaanapali Beach, Lahaina was the capital of the Hawaiian Islands from 1795-1843 and also the centre for the Pacific whaling industry.
Today this bustling small town does retain plenty of evidence of its historic past, with main sights including the Old Prison, the Seaman's Hospital and the Pioneer Inn.
The square at the heart of Lahaina is completely filled with a magnificent banyan tree and is a great place to hang out and shade yourself from the sun. The town does become alive at night, and offer fabulous water front dining by torch light and lively bars.
Be sure to take a whale watching boat from here during December-April to view the humpback whales that use the ocean channel as a sanctuary and a playground.

Where you stay is the heart of your holiday. Location reigns supreme but do you prefer resort facilities or unique and boutique? Historic and old world or modern and shiny?
We aim to present choices across the spectrum but there are many hundreds of places to stay
and not room to feature them all. Do speak to your Bon Voyage travel consultant and click the

We would rate the Bellagio as one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.
Fabulous, glitzy, exciting. We loved having breakfast at the poolside
café... one of our best experiences ever. If it hadn't been for you we
wouldn't have had the suite or cabana and we loved them. We both agreed
that the hotel was the best for us and you had suggested that so well done!

The Plantation Inn
Historic Lahaina Town makes an ideal break from the beach and this traditional Hawaiian Inn could not be lovelier.
