Founded in 1896 by the most authentic representative of the Old West, Colonel William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody. The town lies 20 miles east of the Shoshone National Forest, and 52 miles east of the eastern entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Nestled at the base of the Wyoming Rocky Mountains, Cody blends with old with the new without sacrificing any of its truly western character.
Here you find the huge Buffalo Bill Historical Centre which is widely regarded as America’s finest western museum. Its 3,000 square feet of exhibition space featuring five museums under one roof. If you only decide to do one museum on your Rocky Mountain holiday, please make it this one!
