Collect your motorbike after a hearty breakfast and head south along the Turnagain Arm, a waterway into the northwestern part of the Gulf of Alaska. Portage Glacier is visible from the Seward Highway and as you ride closer you'll be in awe. Next stop - Kenai Lake, surrounded by the Kenai Mountains, the lake is formed from glacier water giving it the majestic blue and green tone.
Known as the "Gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park", Seward is a charming town that sits at the northernmost edge of Resurrection Bay, a deeply dug fjord carved by retreating glaciers. Head to an authentic Alaskan roadhouse in the evening and mingle with the locals over a beer or two.
Distance: 240 miles
Travel through vast wilderness to the sleepy little town of Talkeetna, where oddly enough, a cat was once their Mayor! Said to be the inspiration for the fictional community of Cicely in the popular TV show “Northern Exposure", this funky turn of the century mining town is artsy and outdoorsy and set in the shadow of North America's highest mountain peak - mighty Denali (formerly known as Mount McKinley).
Distance: 270 miles
Over twelve years and $150 million went into the completion of the Parks Highway between Talkeentna and Fairbanks. Not only will you be riding along some of Alaska's most accessible rugged terrain, it is also the widest road in Alaska with not much more than wide open space and Denali National Park along side.
You'll finish today's ride in the old gold-rush town of Fairbanks and have two nights to explore.
Enjoy the day at your leisure. Perhaps you'd like to head to the Arctic Circle, it's a long ride, but it's worth it for the bragging rights! If you want a break from riding, try river rafting around Fairbanks or stretch the legs with a hike - there are plenty of trail options. Try your luck at gold panning, learn about Native Alaskan culture or go in search of wildlife. We'll help you plan and pre-book where necessary.
Distance: 175 miles
Travel the Richardson Highway, Fairbanks to Valdez. It has been voted one of the top three most stunning drives in Alaska. Gaze out over soaring mountain ranges, glaciers, canyons and waterfalls. And just when you think the scenery can't possibly get any better, it does.
You're stay tonight is on the Denali Highway where it crosses the Richardson in the one horse town of Paxson. If you wanted an authentic Alaskan small town experience, you've got it here. Located on the shores of Paxson Lake, the year-round residents are traditionally dog-mushers. You'll likely see (and hear) kennels full of howling sled dogs - it is a true 'only in Alaska experience!'
In the evening, head out to Meirs Lake Roadhouse for huge burgers and mouth-watering rhubarb cobbler washed down with a cold beer.

Leaving Valdez, ride through Thompson Pass - a 2,600 foot-high gap in the Chugach Mountains and officially the snowiest place in Alaska, recording an average of 500 inches of snow per year.
Next, it's the Glenn Highway, with scenery that is literally jaw-dropping. It's no wonder the route has been designated a National Scenic Byway. The highway boasts one of the few road-accessible glaciers in the state. At 13,000 feet high and 27 miles long, the Matanuska Glacier provides the rare opportunity of parking up your bike and venturing on to the ice.
Arrive in Sutton, a rural town along the highway, early evening.
Your flight back to the UK departs mid-morning.
