Events that unfolded at Kelly Ingram Park horrified the nation and put the Civil Rights struggle in the spotlight,
ultimately leading to a complete reform of current laws.

Also known as West Park, Kelly Ingram Park, this 4 acre city
park is bordered by 16th and 17th Streets on
the East . The famous 16th Street Baptist Church is
located directly across the street from the park. As one of the stops
on the Civil Rights Bus tour of the city, it’s an interesting place to stop and
view the monuments to Civil Rights scattered throughout the park as well as visit the Church, the rallying site of Civil Right activists in the 60's, which was bombed by members of the Klu Klux Klan in 1963. ..
