Whether temporarily injured or disabled, wild birds are helped and
healed at the Florida Keys Wild Bird Centre at mile marker 93.6 in
Tavernier, on the island of Key Largo.
Located near Florida's Everglades, the centre is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and realeasing ill, injured and orphaned wild birds. Sadly, some birds unable to cope in the wild become lifelong inhabitants.
This centre spans over 6 acres of lush native vegetation, mangroves, hammocks and wetlands. Visit the centre and help the friendly volunteers feed the egrets, owls, herons and cormorants. Or watch the comical pelicans scavange through the fish buckets! Wander further into these lush acres and spy hawks, ospreys, spoonbills and more...
