Food, Glorious, Food! Eating out in the Florida Keys
In typical Keys fashion, some of the best restaurants along the island chain look quite unassuming or are tucked away-in-hard to find locations. Yet each one is an unique unexpected treasure
Key Largo is home to a pair of restaurants called the Fish House Restaurant & Fish Market and the Fish House Encore, situated on the Overseas Highway at mile marker 102. The menu epitomises fresh Keys fish and seafood at its best.
Cruise further down the highway in Islamorada stands the Island Grill, perched at the water's edge at the foot of Snake Creek Bridge at mile marker 85. Be sure to stop at Robbie's too, it may look like a dingy biker joint, but looks are deceiving, the breakfast are delicious.
Marathon is home to a little gem of an eatery: Leigh Ann's Coffee House at mile marker 50, you'll spot the huge coffee cup outside. Pop inside for Italian food with a twist and incredible carrot cake.
The quirky No Name Pub lies off the overseas Highway in the lower Florida Keys, down a winding road and over a wobbly bridge. This out-of-the-way location doesn't put people off discovering this local landmark, or falling in love with its world-class pizza. A skip and hop from Key West is the Hogfish Bar & Grill on Stock Island. This ramshackle water hole (and we mean this nicely) is a true locals' spot alongside a working marina. Its signature dish is hogfish, funnily enough!
