In the early 1940's, after having fled the Nazi regime in Europe, the von Trapp family (who were the inspiration for the Sound Of Music movie), settled in Stowe, Vermont on an enchanted farm with sweeping mountain vistas reminiscent of their beloved Austria.

They began welcoming guests to a rustic 27-room family home in the summer of 1950. After a devastating fire in 1980, the original structure was replaced by a striking new alpine Lodge, now attended by 2,500 acres of magnificent indoor and outdoor resort amenities. The entire propery is still owned and operated by the von Trapp family today.
Year-round recreational activities include cross-country skiing and hiking on over 100km of trails, mountain biking, tennis, croquet, snowshoeing, sleighrides, children's programs, maple sugaring, work-outs in the Fitness Centre, music lessons, guided nature walks, swimming.

In this oh-so charming lodge you'll find delightful and spacious, Austrian-styled rooms, with deluxe amenities including duvet comforters and striking views of the surrounding natural environs. Many rooms offer patios and balconies.

You'd never need to leave the Trapp Family Lodge to eat as it boasts three restaurants - The Dining Room, The Lounge and the DeliBakery - each with its own distinct character. Here the Chef has designed seasonal menus reflecting both Austrian and Vermont traditions. The staff selects only the season's freshest local produce, game and fish, along with herbs and vegetables grown in the gardens.
The Trapp Family Lodge is a special place to visit during any season but extra magical over the festive season when the lodge is decorated in all its seasonal glory and you can enjoy carol singing round the fireplace with the von Trapp family....
