Day 1 Welcome to The Big Easy

Tauck's New Orleans tour begins at 5:15 PM at Hotel Monteleone. Welcome to New Orleans and French Louisiana! A transfer is included from Louis Armstrong International Airport to the Hotel Monteleone. Please join us for this evening's welcome cocktail reception at your historic hotel in the heart of the French Quarter, followed by dinner at the famous Brennan's restaurant.

Day 2 Cookin', lookin' and listenin' in the French Quarter

New-Orleans-Cooking-Experience

Get to know "Nawlins" up close on a day of insider discoveries from a French Quarter walking tour to a ride along famous Canal Street.  Pick up culinary secrets during a private cooking demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking.  Explore Mardi Gras World  with an insider; spend the rest of the day as you please.  Join us for a private jazz experience tonight at legendary Preservation Hall.

Day 3 - New Orleans, naturally... and the hometown of jazz

Learn about New Orleans' unique geological environment at a presentation by an environmental expert.  Meet with volunteers and community organisers on a Tauck exclusive field trip to the Lower Ninth Ward, making a remarkable post-Katrina recovery.  Visit New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, and choose from among several legendary French Quarter restaurants for dinner.

Day 4 Acadiana at Vermilionville on the Bayou

Head out along the Mississippi to "Cajun Country" for a private "Bal de Maison" house party with a home-style porch lunch.  Acadian music, storytelling and fun.  Step back in time on a guided visit to Vermilionville, recreating Acadian and Creole life circa 1765 to 1890.  Dig into a traditional Cajun dinner in Breaux Bridge, and spend the next two nights in the heart of French Lousiana.

Day 5 Shadows-on the-Teche & Avery Island

We've lined up more discoveries in the heart of Cajun country today, starting with a visit to the Jean Lafitte Acadian Cultural Center in Lafayette.   Continue on to New Iberia for a tour of Shadows-on-the-Teche, a historic pre-Civil War estate on the banks of Bayou Teche, now maintained by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. After lunch, you'll head out to explore Avery Island, whose unusual salt-dome environment and lush lagoons are home to a diverse range of wildlife - as well as to the world-famous McIlhenny TABASCO® Sauce factory, which you'll tour during your visit.

Day 6 - Into the big swamp... and back to the Big Easy

Venture into the Atchafalaya Basin, among the largest wetlands in the United States, on a guided boat tour from Breaux Bridge.  Take a scenic drive back to the "Big Easy" for a two-night stay at The Ritz Carlton, New Orleans

Day 7 Streetcar Tour & National WWII Museum

Board an authentic New Orleans streetcar for an exclusive tour with a local guide along Canal Street and St. Charles Avenue; explore the antiques district and the Garden District, lined with 19th-century Southern mansions.  Enjoy a special visit to the acclaimed National World War II Museum; spend the afternoon as you please.  Tonight, ride through the French Quarter on a horse-drawn carriage to a farewell jazz reception and dinner at legendary Arnaud's.

Day 8 Journey Home
