The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of America’s classic great drives. It meanders some 470 miles from the Shenandoah Valley National Park in Virginia through lush forests, mountain meadows, along mountain crests, past seemingly endless vistas and old farmsteads through North Carolina all the way to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near the Tennessee border. The Blue Ridge Parkway ranges in elevation from 650 feet in Virginia to almost 6,050 feet near Mount Pisgah.

2010 marks the 75th anniversary of this scenic byway.
