Historic Philadelphia & Independence National Historical Park

Independence Historic Park , home of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, is where your history lesson starts.  Both the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution were drafted and signed here. Stop at the The Independence Visitor Center to buy tickets for tours and pick up maps and brochures to help with your time at the park.   The park has over 20 buildings open to the public with park rangers who can answer all your history questions.  In the summer you will find storytellers wandering the park telling historic tales of the times.

No trip to Historic Philadelphia would be complete without a visit to the home of America’s famous flagmaker.

The Betsy Ross House is located just around the corner from Independence National Historical Park . The circa-1740 rowhouse has been restored to the period when Betsy Ross, as the story tells it, is said to have created the first American flag. The house is furnished with period antiques and  furniture and highlights include several objects known to have belonged to Betsy Ross.
