Tombstone Holidays
Tombstone, Arizona…it’s a name straight from the silver screen, evoking images of Wyatt Earpp and the OK Corral. Tombstone is still a throwback to the days of the Wild West; Main Street has been preserved and restored so it is similar to that of the days of the late 1800's when as legend has it, the Earpps and Doc Holiday killed three members of the Clanton gang.
And you’ll probably be wanting a shot of redeye in the saloon before paying your respects up at the Boot Hill cemetery!
Tombstone is in southern Arizona some 65 miles southeast of Tucson.
Things to see and do
-
Kartchner Caverns State Park
The caverns were apparently unknown to man until 1974, when two amateur cavers found a narrow crack in the bottom of a sinkhole, and followed the source of warm, moist air toward what ended up being more than 2½ miles of pristine cave passages.
-
Saguaro National Park
When you think of Arizona normally the statuesque Saguaro Cactus usually comes to mind. It stands tall as an iconic symbol of Arizona. In their masses, they typically form the backdrop for those good old cowboy films.
-
Bisbee
Charming and historic, the town of Bisbee is only 82 miles southeast of Tucson and worth a day trip or overnight.
