A short half hour’s drive from Rapid City is the Mount Rushmore National Memorial, a monumental dedication to the hopes, dreams, will and determination of a nation, Mount Rushmore stands as a symbol of America’s heritage.  Carved from a mountainside of solid granite, the gigantic busts of four great American presidents-Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln peer out over South Dakota.

This National Memorial is easily ”done” in a morning, make sure you have comfortable walking shoes on to climb the Presidential Trail which will take you right underneath these famous faces.
