Rockford, located just over an hour from Chicago, is situated in the rolling hills of Northern Illinois. In terms of size, Rockford would be considered a big city, but in terms of attitude Rockford is very much a small, friendly town. Known as an outdoor destination, especially in the non-winter months, numerous forest preserves can be found just five miles from downtown. The Rockford Park District own and operate numerous golf courses as well. In fact, Golf Magazine rated Aldeen Golf Club in the top 50 golf courses under $50.

With a good number of historic neighbourhoods to visit and architecture to admire, Rockford is a great strolling city. Antique shopping is another Rockford speciality and you can easily mooch the day away searching for that lost treasure!
