Back in 1928, an Iowan inventor called Otto Rohwedder installed his latest creation in a bakery that was on the verge of bankruptcy, and changed not only the fortunes of the bakery, but also how the world expects their bread to be prepared for purchase! The very first bread slicing machine was invented and installed in Chillicothe, Missouri.

This great moment in the history of…well, bread, is celebrated in the town with lots of souvenir shops. It would appear that the town has yet to track down an actual Rohwedder Slicing Machine for display purposes.
