was one of the first planned communities and was developed
by George Edgar Merrick during the Florida
land boom of the 1920s.
The city's architecture is almost entirely
Mediterranean Revival style and the city is
notorious for its aesthetic regulations - hence the moniker “The City Beautiful”.
With 22 parks, 33 public tennis courts and two public golf courses, the area is full of outdoor splendour and activity. A definite must - a visit to Venetian Pool.
