Over the past couple of seasons Breckenridge, the town, and Breckenridge, the ski area, have come together. The Skyway Skiway allows you to ski right down to the main street, and the Breck Connect gondola speeds you back up.

It makes getting to the slopes easier and quicker, while stylish new mountain villages are being built on the mountains.  There are four of them-Peaks 7,8,9 and 10-with a wealth of high altitude slopes.  Not least the expert Terrain accessed by the Imperial Express, the world's highest chairlift, reaching 12,804ft.  There are five terrain parks and half-pipes for boarders, with Freeway rated one of the best in the US.  The Victorian mining town sits at 9,600ft.  If you want great apres ski in the bars, clubs and restaurants, this is the place to come.

For non skiers, summer or winter, you'll enjoy the long main street which is packed with quirky boutiques, galleries and stores.
