Places to stay
The View Hotel is the only hotel built at the edge of the valley and an amazing place to wake up and watch the sun rise over the magnificent Mittens.
The View Hotel is a Navajo owned business located within the Navajo Nation and the Navajo Tribal park at Monument Valley. Opened in December 2008, it features carefully designed accommodations that serve the needs of visitors from around the world while blending with the environment, so as not to detract from the beauty of Monument Valley.
The three floors provide 95 rooms, each one with a private eastern facing balcony with views unlike anywhere else in world. The top floor features Starview rooms with unforgettable views of the stars, the entirety of Monument Valley, and serves as a perfect venue for amateur night-time long exposure photography without leaving the comfort of your room.
You'll certainly recognise Monument Valley as it has been the backdrop for endless movies such as John Ford's 1939 film
Stagecoach
starring John Wayne,
2001: A 2001: A Space Odyssey, Easy Rider, Back to the Future III, Forrest Gump
and
Mission Impossible II...to name but a few...
During your visit to Monument Valley why not hike the
Wildcat Trail?
This impressive 3.1 mile trail takes you along the base of the West Mitten Butte, giving you a sense of how enormous the monuments are. The Wildcat Trail is the only self-guided walking tour in the park and will take you anywhere from 1.5 - 2 hours to complete.
